Introduction
MAGNETICS® excellence regarding design literature and technical application notes has been established for decades as the best in the industry.  Recently, we have been developing a comprehensive library of software design aids to assist engineers in optimizing their magnetic components.

You can download the software packages from the links below, or click on the section headings for more information about that particular package.  These tools run under Windows 95/ 98SE/NT/2000. Some Windows 95 users may experience problems due to an old release of the operating software.  Patches included in the ZIP files will fix some problems. If problems persist, try updating to the latest service pack, or contact a MAGNETICS  Application Engineer for more help.

Common Mode Filter Inductor Design Details Inductor Design Using Powder Cores Details
This software tool helps designers select the most appropriate ferrite toroid for common mode filtering applications.  The online Help guides users to the optimal ferrite material, while still allowing the flexibility to accommodate user-chosen part numbers.

Featuring Magnetics MPP, Kool Mu®, and High Flux powder cores, this design utility aids in core selection for DC output inductors, input chokes, PFC inductors, and other energy-storage devices.  Designs are completely modeled (with respect to wound component size, losses, etc.), and performance characteristics and temperature rise are reported as well.

Current Transformer Design Details MAGNETICS MagAmp Designer Details
This design package aids in specifying the optimum core for a variety of different current sensing schemes, including Hall Effect, off-line, and CT's for switched mode power supplies.  Featured core materials include ferrite, MPP/Kool Mu®, and strip wound products.

The MagAmp Designer helps design engineers select the ideal core for magnetic amplifier applications (such as for secondary output regulation).  Online Help details material trade-offs and explains the innovative core and copper loss calculations used to estimate performance and temperature rise.
