MAGNETICS FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Magnetics has compiled a list of frequently asked
questions for the benefit of engineers who work with magnetic
materials.

This 12 page reference guide addresses
many general application and assembly questions, as well as

Magnetics' Year in Review
It has been a busy year at Magnetics! Let's take a look
back at some of the highlights of 2007.
Kool MuŽ Segments offer
a significant advantage to designers of high current
inductors. The customization of extremely large shapes
(greater than 4.0 inches or 101.6 mm diameter) offers
flexibility in core shape and size. Samples are available.
Magnetics expanded the Large Kool MuŽ shapes line in
2007, with the introduction of five new sizes of U
cores. The 00K5527U026, 00K5529U026, 00K6533U026,
00K7236U026 and 00K8038026 have been added to the existing large U
core line. Large E cores, blocks and toroids are also
available.
Magnetics
Xiamen,
China plant was
certified as ISO 9001:2000
compliant. This
certification assures customers that Magnetics Xiamen has a quality
management system in place and is dedicated to improved process
controls and performance.
L material, a ferrite
material for low losses at high frequency, was introduced in
2007. Ideal for transformer and inductor applications from
500kHz to 3MHz, L material is available in a variety of sizes and
shapes. E cores, EFD cores, ER cores planar cores, PQ cores,
RM cores and toroids are available in sizes up to 30 mm.
The new Short Form Ferrite catalog
was published in early 2007.
The 40 page document lists the complete Magnetics ferrite
product line in an easy to read format and serves as a quick
reference to the latest ferrite shapes and sizes; including the ER
series, the ETD29, ETD54, U93, U126, UR64 and PQ50.
The Magnetics website has been updated with two new search features. The
Specification Sheet Search for part numbers was added in the
Fall and, just recently, a keyword search has been added
to search by topic or keyword. The Magnetics Search button can
be found in the upper left-hand corner on Magnetics
website. |

Magnetic
Builder Design Tool
Magnetics has partnered with PowerEsim to
offer a web-based power supply design tool free to Magnetics
customers. The design engineer selects an application and
operating conditions and the Magnetic Builder suggests the
appropriate Magnetics core for the
design. With the Magnetic Builder Design Tool,
designing a power supply is just a few clicks away.
