Part Numbering for Tall Height Powder Core Toroids

Magnetics now offers customizable heights on standard Kool Mu, MPP and High Flux toroid powder cores. Adjusting the pressed height of powder core toroids offers several advantages.

• Replaces the need to stack toroids - Pressing a core up to 3 times (max height varies by part) the standard height eliminates costly stacking during manufacturing.

• Adapt to usable space – Cores can be pressed to any height specified (taller and shorter).

• Taller cores have higher power handling capability.

A standard part numbering system has been developed to make specifying and ordering parts easy. I will use the 125 permeability Kool Mu core, 0077930A7, as an example.

The standard core has a maximum coated height of 11.94 mm. If an application allows for a core with a maximum coated height of 19 mm, the tall height part number would be 0077930A7HT19.

The HT notation signifies a taller height and the 2 digit number signifies the maximum coated height. The two digit number must be an integer value. The minimum and maximum coated height varies by part size. Maximum coated heights that are not integer millimeter values can also be manufactured.

Parts that are ready to be sampled and their specifications can be found here under Powder Cores - Taller Height Powder Cores.
