Larger Kool Mu Block Size
Magnetics now has
80 x 30 mm Kool Mu Blocks.
Blocks are used for high current inductors. They can be used to create custom shapes to achieve specified inductance required at currents greater than 100 amps. These larger blocks are available in 26 µ and 40 µ.
00K8030B026
00K8030B040
This is larger than Magnetics' other Kool Mu blocks,
47 x 41 mm,
55 x 28 mm,
60 x 30 mm

Kool Mu Blocks for High Current Applications
Rapid expansion in the solar power conversion, wind power conversion, hybrid vehicle, UPS, and electric drive transportation markets has increased the demand for high current (100-300 amps) inductors. For many high-current applications the limiting factor is not necessarily the ability of the material to provide enough inductance at DC Bias, it is the ability to fit enough turns of heavy wire or foil to provide the necessary inductance. Magnetics Kool Mu block structures can be made large enough to achieve the specified inductance required at currents greater than 100 amps. Kool Mu blocks come in a variety of sizes and shapes for flexibility and customization of a design. New sizes can be tooled.
For more on this topic see Magnetics Senior Sales Engineer Donna Kepcia's presentation "Block Structures and Products for High Current Applications".

Hong Kong Distribution Center Relocation
In August 2011, Magnetics' Hong Kong Distribution Center relocated to a new facility, Tsing Yi, New Territories. The larger facility will better enable Magnetics to react quickly to the increasing global demand for powder cores and ferrites.
